Hey, I’m Sam
I’m an extroverted introvert, an adventurous eater, and my soul loves to wander—especially when my photoshoots set the itinerary.
As a multi-passionate person, I’ve lived a lot of lives. My interests have run the gamut from long-distance motorcycle trips, to sneaking into places I probably shouldn’t, to forever searching for a pub that offers a mean mulled wine. Regardless of whatever my latest interest may be, photography remains my number one passion.
I found my purpose behind the camera and I’ve been running my own business for the past seven years (and counting!).
I’m currently based in Peterborough, Ontario but my projects have taken me to far-flung places including sun-scorched African landscapes and ocean cruises. My work has been featured by The CBC, The Globe and Mail, Toronto record labels, and Photographers Without Borders… to name a few. Truthfully, I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
I primarily focus on portraits, photoshoots with musicians and bands (up-and-coming or well-established artists), photojournalism, and corporate shoots. I also have a soft spot for boudoir sessions and the empowerment that they can bring.
There’s something so special about working with an individual to capture a photo that they love… or an event that they’ll remember forever.
My photoshoots vary but my reasons for doing this work remain the same. Images can grab people’s attention in a way that other mediums don’t. There’s a history and emotion that they reflect. Photography is my way to tell a story—and tell it well.
Part of my process is to get you feeling at ease in front of the camera. It’s a tough, vulnerable place to be. I get that. The question isn’t about being photogenic, it’s about comfortability. (Here to be your hype woman. Hold me to it.)
My personality is by no means moody but my photos definitely tend to be. This is my space to unleash the drama, grit, and teen angst. I’m all for shooting under angry skies or in unvarnished spaces.
And, some fun deets… just because. I once worked on a ship that caught fire not once, but twice. I’ve gotten lost in Istanbul by boarding a questionable van in a place where I didn’t speak the language. Honestly, I’d probably do it again. My hairstyle changes more often than the seasons because I’m not into sticking with the same old. When it comes to food, scones are my kryptonite and chicken feet can fuck right off.
